Podcast 61 - Fantasy

September 7, 2016

We bravely set out to find the very best in fantasy comics, but we got badly sidetracked and got eaten by a Groo, a monster from a videogame that shares its name with a fantasy comic we didn't actually cover. Will that do? I tried.

There's a weird lack of fantasy comics, so we try to figure out why what Mr Hart so kindly refers to as "Elves and Swords and Bollocks" isn't as prevalent as other genres.

We covered:

  • A City Inside - Tillie Walden
  • Oishinbo - Tetsu Kariya, Akira Hanasaki
  • Black Monday Murders - Jonathan Hickman, Tomm Coker
  • Dicebox - Jenn Manley Lee
  • Echo’s Rift  Jennifer Potter
  • Unsounded - Ashley Cope
  • Stand Still, Stay Silent - Minna Sundberg
  • The Lost Oracle - Lho Brockhoff
  • Cry Havoc - Si Spurrier, Ryan Kelly, Nick Filardi, Matt Wilson, Lee Loughridge
  • Weirdworld - Sam Humphries, Michael Del Mundo
  • Injection - Warren Ellis, Declan Shalvey, Jordie Bellaire
  • Pretty Deadly - Kelly-Sue DeConnick, Emma Rios, Jordie Bellaire
  • Ghastly - "Ghastly" (This is very not safe for work you guys)

Podcast Episode 1 - Webcomics

June 17, 2013

In our very first podcast, the gang wrestle with the thorny issue of whether webcomics are any good or not, as well as reflecting on their own ethnic homogeneity and whether Canada’s premier singer-songwriter went blind from indulging in a spot of the old crystal meth:

Legal Disclaimer: Rufus Wainwright definitely went blind from drugs. We checked on Wikipedia and at least one other place.

Our jazzy theme tune was provided by Chris Whitworth. You can find more of his music on the Music by Programmers album, which is raising funds for Bletchley Park and the National Museum of Computing.
